Club Campestre Homeowners’ Meetings Club Campestre San Jose held Homeowners' Association meetings for all seven neighborhoods the first week of December. It was wonderful to see everyone at these meetings. We thank you all for attending and taking an active role in the community's direction. The meetings were run efficiently and according to protocol established in Association Regulations. In regard to budget, Administration placed emphasis on transparency and a dedication to maintaining budgets as close as possible to those of last year while still managing to augment reserves. Viva Mexico! 200 Years of Independence 2010 Marks 200 years of independence for Mexico and 100 years since the revolution that turned the independent country into the democracy it remains today.Throughout the country people are gearing up for bicentennial celebrations to take place on September 15 and 16, and centennial celebrations which will occur on November 20. In Mexico City, a bicentennial commemorative arch is being constructed on Avenida Reforma in honor of the bicentennial. The monumental steel and quartz sculpture by architect Cesar Perez Becerril will be inaugurated on September 15. Route 2010 is an ambitious project put together in collaboration between Mexico’s Tourism and Communications and Transportation Ministries. Route 2010 is a series of six important historical routes travelled by revolutionaries as they fought the battle for independence. The routes are well marked making them easy for history buffs to follow. A bicentennial expo park has also been established on over 245 acres in Guanajuato.Here in Los Cabos the celebratory agenda includes a Collective Exhibition entitled “Mexico Libre” featuring 100 paintings bearing the essence of Mexico’s 200 years as a free nation. The exhibition will be on display at Puerto Paraiso Mall for the entire month of September. On September 11 in the San Jose Theatre a musical presentation entitled “A Walk in Mexico” will feature musical rhythms from different regions of the country. Folkloric dance, performances by the Los Cabos Youth Orchestra, El Grito and The Great Gala Concert by the three Mexican Tenors Humberto Cravioto, Alberto Angel and Valente Pastor are among the highlights. The Questro Foundation Gives Back Summer vacation is officially over, and Cabo kids are back in school. The Questro Foundation, a non-profit organization associated with Club Campestre’s parent company Grupo Questro, kicked off the new school year by awarding 200 scholarships to high school aged students in both San Jose and Cabo. Recipients qualified by showing academic promise with high grade point averages accompanied by financial need. The students also received school supplies and uniforms and a commitment for continued support.The Questro Foundation is also planning a Festival in Celebration of Values this Sunday, September 5 at 6 pm at Plaza Leon Cota Collins in Cabo San Lucas. The event will feature live music, a fashion show and a presentation about the importance of values in community. Approximately 15 local non-profit organizations will participate. Club Campestre Hosts Non-Profit Association Club Campestre San Jose hosted a press conference Monday for the local non-profit association Centro Historico, A.C. The charitable organization, committed to maintaining the historic value of the downtown area and promoting its many fine restaurants, shops and galleries, is responsible for the recent installation of park benches seen throughout the Plaza. At the press conference, Centro Historico announced their plan to install trash cans, guide maps for tourists, plant shade trees in the plaza, place electric wiring in the historic center of town underground, help to establish and maintain adequate, convenient parking in the area and generally promote the area as a tourist friendly destination. The group is also dedicated to fortifying San Jose’s cultural identity and personality by working with the County’s Department of Culture to bring regular music and dance performances and art exhibitions to Plaza Mijares. Club Campestre San José Golf Course Maintenance Underway At Club Campestre San José, we take great pride in the reputation our Jack Nicklaus Design golf course holds for consistent, superb maintenance. Toward that end, we are now aerating our greens, a process we undergo twice annually to keep the course in tip top shape. Aerification relieves soil compaction caused by foot traffic and mowing equipment. The process adds oxygen to the soil and encourages the growth of deep, healthy roots so we can maintain the greens at the optimal 3/16 inch thick. Adding sand to the soil helps keep the greens aerated as well, making it easier for roots to grow downward. Our greens will appear sandy for a couple of days, but will quickly return to their lush green color and be healthier than ever, for your golfing pleasure. . ...
